ABOUT KAREN
Our Approach
Why I believe I can help couples get to the finish line and feel they have a fair and equitable financial settlement with less stress, time, cost and emotional upheaval;
Our Story
I have received basic and advanced divorce mediation training as well as training in working with high conflict personalities through Orange County Human Relations. This organization assists at the local courts, helping couples reach a settlement themselves rather than having the judge assign one. I am a volunteer at the Lamoreaux Family Court, assisting divorcing couples in coming to a fair and acceptable agreement, which is then written up and signed by the couple. I have also volunteered at the Small Claims Court in Newport.
I started my career in finance and accounting and obtained a degree in both Finance and Economics from Chapman University. In 1992, I passed all CFP exams on the first attempt and learned comprehensive financial planning. In 2004, I completed the CDFA exam requirements. Additionally, I have studied and completed an exam in Divorce Tax Planning. I earned my Series 7 license in 1990 and hold an insurance license.
I am a member of NAWBO (National Association of Women Business Owners) and was the Past President of WISE (Women Investing in Security and Education) in 2009 and 2010. I was also a speaker at the Invest in Women conference in Las Vegas (2015), where I spoke on Divorce and Mediation.
My interests outside of my professional career include animal conservation and traveling to the Galapagos Islands.
